What a weekend! With a low of 70 and a high of 88, this was about as beautiful as weekends get in August, and we took our time to visit with plenty of folks out at Canton’s First Monday Trade Days.
To be brief, First Monday Trade Days goes back to the 1850’s, when the circuit judge for the area would be in town for, well, one day on the first Monday of the month. Since this encouraged people to the county seat of Van Zandt, it brought with a thriving trade meetup. Over a 150 years later, First Monday has grown to a 4 day, 450 acre spectacle that brings in 200,000 to 400,000 attendees that happens every month!
In any case, the weather was great, the people were happy, and we were pleased as could be to share our weekend talking to people from all over the state and beyond!
